There has been a flurry of writing, analysis and movements since 26/11. My mail box bursting from its seams is waiting to be cleared. I am saving the best of those in my archive for future reference - Mumbai Attack is a milestone event. Unfortunately with terrorism the worst is never over. Who knows what is n store for us in the future. But this space will have a lot of stories to tell to the survivors...

You have not been harsh on the media as a whole, your viewpoints were very much in tune with the ground realities of how the press behaved as the window to its viewers. Much as the press attempts to defend its modus operandi, the fact remains that, in the absence of any regulatory norms that the Govt failed to put in, the press went berserk in reporting every but every bit of action as it unfolded, thus giving the terrorists the very fodder they needed to succeed - they got worldwide publicity, they got minute-to-minute information of what the security forces were doing and they got morale-boosting views on how well they were doing!! Call it censorship or regulatory norms, there is a definite need to rein in the press.
On the ethical side, the behaviour of some media persons, particularly Barkha Dutt, Arnab Goswami and Dilip Sardesai, in interviewing some of the severely traumatised victims of the attack was indeed appalling, to say the least. They also need to be less aggressive in the way they speak when eliciting comments from standersby .... more often than not, the seem to put words in the mouths of these people so as to get them to conform to "their" point of view. Some maturity needed here.
