A POEM FROM AN ARMY WIFE
This is a pearl I picked up from the vast treasure house of the internet.Wish I had known who the author was.It absolutely reflects my sentiments too.
Author: Unknown
I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens
But I am in the Army in the ranks rarely seen
I have no rank upon my shoulders - salutes I do not give
But the military world is the place where I live
I'm not in the chain of command, orders I do not get
But my husband is the one who does, this I can not forget
I'm not the one who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line
But my job is just as tough. I'm the one that's left behind
My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man
And the call to serve his country not all can understand
Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me
I love the man I married, Soldiering is his life
But I stand among the silent ranks known as the Army Wife

i have seen this before, and i gotta tell you... there is no tougher job for a woman than being a military wife. i think being the wife of the service member might actually be tougher (at least mentally) than being in the service! Take pride in your husband, and thank him for us. my sons, my husband (a disabled army tanker) and i all apreciate the sacrifices you and he make to help keep us free. our prayers are with you both.
"Behind every soldier (successful or not) is a (usually) dedicated wife. This poem so apyly describes her. Every army man must read this, whether he is married or not. All wives too, must read it, just to remind themselves of their place in the Army and in their home. Cudos to the author."
An excellent exposition about being wedded to the olive greens! Keep it up!!
Can I access the book, Wedded to the olive greens, online?
Ciao
